I do not know if it is related to the worsening economy, but my own experiences with the robo-called "your vehicle warranty is about to expire!" garbage calls seems to have increased. My friends and co-workers agree with me on this.
These calls are also a frequent question I get via email from folks who deal with them. In the back of my mind, I have been contemplating the best way to handle these (as there is never a human) in a manner which can give folks some real chance to find the chuckleheads behind these calls. I had not been particularly driven to do such, but with some structural and server changes to this site and a desire to refresh the content...it started moving up on my list of this to research and do...
It also helps my motivation that in the space of a few weeks, the two elevators in my building have been contacted through their emergency telephones three times and informed that their vehicle warranties are about to expire.
Give me a few days, folks. I shall get some new stuff up for you to deal with these annoying calls.
