The Story: I have received 14 calls from them starting in June 2007 even though I have been registered on the DO NOT CALL list since June 2006. On one of the calls, I answered and asked them to take my number off the list. I was told by "Miranda" that they "must" have my name in order to do that. I replied that I am not legally required to provide my name, just remove my number from your calling database. "Miranda" still insisted on having my name. I said, "Make one up, you are not getting my name." Gevalia still calls me. Can you believe this? I have purchased a telezapper, I hope that "ZAPS" the next call. Since I have documented 14 violations (calls), I can collect $7000 (14 X $500) for each violation.
Also, Washington State will not take the case because they claim they don't have "jurisdiction." Well, someone named Bill Livingston, from Seattle, WA, has been through this, he has a web site, and he quotes RCW 3.66.040 (5), which says, yes, WA does have jurisdiction! I'm following his advice!
