Complaint: I am a FORMER donor to the Red Cross now, since they have gone to a telemarketing approach to asking for blood and platelet donations from me. Calls multiple times a day, on all contact numbers you've ever given them never stop. It used to be that a kind person from the donor office you would visit would call only when they could see you were eligible to donate, and if you told them you were unavailable for X amount of time, they wouldn't call. Now it is through some vendor and high pressure. I also found out that a person I knew had failed their test to stay phlebotomy certified the Red Cross ALLOWED to continue to draw blood for them! I will never trust them again.

Complaint: It's the Red Cross, and they call us incessantly. If enough frustrated citizens send complaints to firstname.lastname@example.org maybe they will stop calling. Or...maybe not.

Complaint: This is the Red Cross calling. Unfortunately, once you make just one blood donation, they will "tele-stalk" you relentlessly with multiple requests to give blood again, and again, and again. I'm not against the Red Cross and all the good work they do, but they will NOT leave you alone with the phone calls. Their number constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, litters my caller ID history probably anywhere from 6-10 times per week. (Including the call I just got today, the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend!) They do not take a day off when it comes to the tele-stalking. Good cause notwithstanding, annoying doesn't even begin to describe it, to the point where it almost sours you on supporting the cause. Trust me, when I feel like donating blood again, I'll find YOU. Stop tele-stalking me.

Complaint: CAN NOT GET RED CROSS TO CEASE CALLING ON SUNDAYS AND OTHER FREQUENTLY INCONVENIENT TIMES. CAN SEE THAT THEY HAVE LOST ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OF THE CALL FUNCTION. BEST WAY TO GET THIS CORRECTED IS TO STOP ALL DONATIONS TO THE RED CROSS. IN SUFFICIENT NUMBERS THIS WILL FORCE CHANGE! GIVE TO ANOTHER AGENCY THAT MEETS YOUR SPECS. HAVE SWITCHED TO ANOTHER SERVICE AGENCY.

Complaint: I was told by them not to donate blood anymore because I passed out the last time I tried. Yet they call my house AND my cell if I do not pick up at home. Need to block the house call to see if it stops the cell calls, too. VERY annoying!

Complaint: When they call, they call at least twice every day. I did finally answer a call to ask them to please stop calling, I would donate when I could but I can't do it regularly because when I did that, I got tremendously anemic and had a lot of health problems from that. They said they understood and did stop for awhile, but now they're calling again! The Red Cross does so many good things, it's just a shame they upset people by calling non-stop.

Complaint: Called today, immediately put on blocked call list on my new, great Panasonic phone. ANY AND ALL businesses and charities who call my home are cut off from all future business and donations, so you telemarketers might rethink your annoying strategy.

Complaint: I have been ill almost non stop this Winter with colds, sinusitis, pharygitis, bacterial URI, you name it. My doctor has told me not to donate blood because if you lose that amount of blood when your body is already week, it could be very dangerous. I am a repeat donor and it's an act of charity for me. I have A - blood which I know is in demand but if I am ill I cannot donate. They call me twice daily and will not STOP!!! The hilarious thing is I'm gay and donate which is against the rules because we all supposedly have HIV (when I know for a fact 100% I do not). Now these vampires are craving gay blood LOL.

Complaint: I give platelets to the American Red Cross. I have asked them not to call me (I will call them to arrange appointments.) If I continue to get annoying calls from the Red Cross, I will stop volunteering and giving platelets.

Complaint: I finally figured out who has been calling my cell phone, and my wife's, cell phone continually. This intrusion on my personal, and professional, life is irritating to the point that I will probably not donate blood again. It's sad that an organization such as the Red Cross actually defeats that which it is promoting.

Complaint: call us almost every day, multiple times/day even after we "asked" not to call. don't even leave a message, which means not important to actually reach us. Finally blocked the number, but still rings once. so irritating!!

Complaint: I've been requesting as politely as possible for the last 2+ years for the American Red Cross to *please* remove my number from their automated calling list! Hasn't been done yet! The calls finally stopped for a while and then just started back up today. I've told them over and over that I work night shift and do not appreciate phone calls during the day. I have explained that I will contact my local chapter when I'm available to donate. Argh!!!

Complaint: Apparently the Red Cross (?) has my cell phone number, which I never gave to them. I've got nothing aganst giving blood, but I can not do it often and they just don't seem to understand that.

Complaint: Holy Cow, stop calling! Once I get a call from the Red Cross, it is guranteed that I will receive one every 3 hours until I tell them to stop calling. Then 2 weeks later, the same thing... and so on and so on... I've been telling them to stop calling me for 2 years now! I now give to Life Stream because of this!

Complaint: I understand the dire need of blood and get that I have a particularly rare blood type, I donate whenever possible. But I am a full time college student and am not in my home state. I do not have ways of getting there. I donate everytime there is a drive here but would appreciate not getting phone calls because they are very disruptive to my day: I am in classes or have meetings to go to.

Complaint: I do give to the American Red Cross everytime I am able to, on a regular basis. I believe everyone who is able to should. Yet, I am not happy when I am always being called and reminded of when and where I can give, nor am I happy to keep getting reminders in the mail. When it's time for me to give, I usually give at the same place each time. Some people may need the reminders, but to me they are usually annoying.

Complaint: I got a live person at 800-448-3543 who claimed to have taken me off the call list--we'll see! Can't remember exactly which menu options took me there; first pick was "appointment to give" and second was something like "donor with a question." She admitted they are getting a lot of complaints.

Complaint: I have donated in the past, found a new sorce to donate. They used to call my home phone all the time. I finally told them that I was HIV positive (a lie) That stopped that. Now they've found my cell phone. The number is unpublished, my voice mail has a fake name, but calls 2-3 times a day every few months. Have their number in my phone as do not ansewer with no ring tone, so I don't get disturbed anymore.

Complaint: Yes, it is the American Red Cross. Their system autodials my number daily (every other week), rings 4 times and then disconnects with no message. If you answer before 4 rings, it immediately disconnects. I contacted them via e-mail and the rep said I must have "registered with ARC" (I did NOT). She then said their system "is fairly new and might have a few bugs." HAH! I asked what kind of imbecilic system calls people repeatedly with no live rep OR recorded message (no answer for that). Forget "Do Not Call" - it won't help with nonprofits. Bombard the ARC with repeated complaints and let them know you will NEVER donate (blood or money) until they pull the plug on their screwed-up system. That's the only thing that will help.

Complaint: They continue to call me despite the fact that I donate somewhat regularly (last donation was in the last two months). I have asked to be removed multiple times, and even told them that I can't donate right now because my iron is low (which is true, I'm trying to get it higher). Donating will not make the calls go away, don't believe of the bullying that says it will. Even if you "just donate blood and save a life" they will still barate you with phone call. Multiple times daily, from both local and 800 numbers.

Complaint: They have been calling continuously every single day, multiple times a day. I asked to be taken off their calling list (MULTIPLE TIMES!), yet they still call. It's extremely aggravating to be called continuously from 8am-8pm. Even as I am typing this complaint I am receiving a call from them and it's 8:35pm!

Complaint: It's the RED CROSS out for blood. Sure would be nice to use their name and have it appear on caller ID like they should. Once they have your number they'll never stop calling and they don't have to since they are a non-profit organization! The politicians left a loophole in the Opt-Out law for non-profits and surveys (polls). Tell your congressmen you want the OPT-OUT to mean NO CALLS, PERIOD. Those who enjoy getting unwanted calls just won't need to have their phone numbers on the list.
